Privacy Policy
Welcome to DocNote ("we", "our", or "the App"), developed by Li Jane. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines our principles and practices concerning user data when you use the DocNote application.
1. Offline-First Architecture & Data Ownership
DocNote is built with an offline-first philosophy. All your notes, tags, attachments, settings, and search indices are stored locally and exclusively on your device. We do not operate proprietary cloud servers to intercept, read, monetize, or harvest your personal documents.
2. Google Drive Integration & Google User Data
DocNote provides an optional cloud backup and restore capability utilizing Google Drive API. When you connect your Google Account to use this feature, the following protections apply:
🛡 Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance
DocNote's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- Scope of Access: We strictly utilize dedicated application storage permissions (
drive.filescope). DocNote only accesses backup archives that were directly created by DocNote itself. We cannot and do not read, view, modify, or delete any unrelated personal files or folders stored in your Google Drive. - Purpose of Access: Access to Google Drive is strictly confined to creating zip backup archives of your notes and restoring them back to your device at your explicit command.
- No Third-Party Transmission: Your Google credentials, profile information, and backup data are never transmitted to third-party servers, marketers, or analytics providers. Data transfers take place strictly between your Android device and Google's official Drive servers via secure HTTPS.
- No AI Model Training: None of your Google user data is used to develop, train, or tune generalized artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) models.
3. Device Permissions Used
- Storage / Media: Required solely to open document files, attach files to notes, and save local export archives.
- Camera: Optional permission requested only when you take a photo directly within the app for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) text extraction.
- Internet: Required exclusively to communicate with Google Drive API for backup/restore synchronization and standard ad network services.
4. Data Retention, Management & Revocation
- You can freely delete local notes, tags, or cached attachments inside the application at any moment.
- You can disconnect and permanently revoke DocNote's access to your Google Account at any time via your Google Account Security Dashboard.
